The movie Boyhood was truly an amazing film. The storyline, cast and time invested to create this film is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
The storyline is unique, it gives us a detailed portrayal of their life and the consequences the characters faced with the decisions they made.
The cast was brilliant, especially the kids! Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette were already adults, so it is fair to say that maturity was a key factor for their consistency. Watching Ellar Coltrane (Mason) and Lorelei Linklater (Samantha) go through early stages of life was captivating.
This movie was filmed over a 12 year period and the first thing that came to mind, “seems unnecessary”. Why not hire a great special effects team and boom! Turns out I was wrong, most movies nowadays are all about the special effects. We get lost in how “nice” things look and pay less attention to the quality of the plot.
Do yourself a favor, if you haven’t seen it yet, give it a try. This movie reminds you of how special life is and how our experiences define who we are today. We all have a purpose…
